Q. WHY IS FIRE RETARDANCY USEFUL IN A WOODWORM TREATMENT?

A. Wood is naturally flammable, so if you have to carry out a woodworm treatment you might as well make it a fire retardant one, because of the cost of access to floor or roof timbers.

Q. WHICH TYPES OF WOODWORM TREATMENT ARE FIRE RETARDANTS, WITHOUT ADDING ANOTHER CHEMICAL?

A. Some Boron based chemicals, like Boracol 5RH, are also natural fire retardants. They do not, however, carry UK Certification for this purpose.

Q. HOW CAN I MAKE THE CHEMICAL MORE EFFECTIVE?

A. You could apply more coats, within the Manufacturer's recommendations, or add another chemical in additive form, or apply another Fire Retardant after the woodworm treatment has dried.
